Radiant Dome

A canopy of red ribbons radiating from a lacquered mast.

Being built. You can already dance in it.

Up front by the band, with the crowd around you and the circle clapping behind.

The place

A full-span canopy radiating from a lacquered mast at the centre out to a ring of truss towers lit red. Deep red ribbons, a few of antique gold, hang along each strand, so from under it they draw a sunburst round the mast. Embroidered red-and-black panels with brass bells, a brass chandelier, a maroon mandala in cream marble, red lounges in candle light, and a carved wooden gate hung with panels, bells and marigolds.

The sound
Open air under a canopy of cloth: the ribbons soak up the highs, a short soft tail, a little off the towers.
Watching from far off
You sit on the second row of seats, looking over their backs.
