Historic coastal cradle of South African Gujarati heritage.

Durban, home to the largest Indian-origin population outside Asia, holds a special place in global diaspora history. Led by the historic Surat Hindu Association (established in 1907) and centered at Gandhi Hall, KwaZulu-Natal celebrates Navratri with deep ancestral reverence by the warm Indian Ocean.

Association History: Over a century of cultural guardianship.

The Surat Hindu Association was established by early Gujarati merchant families in Durban. Across more than a hundred and fifteen years, the organization has maintained schools, charitable dispensaries, and pristine cultural traditions that connect local families to their ancestral soil.
