Audio Cable Hookups: Eliminating ground loop hums.
Connect your playback laptop or tablet using a dedicated USB-C audio interface or a 3.5mm to dual 1/4-inch TRS breakout cable into stereo channel inputs (Channels 3/4 or 5/6) of your PA mixer. Avoid cheap unshielded auxiliary cables that pick up fluorescent light hum. Inserting an inexpensive passive stereo DI box (Direct Injection) between the laptop and the mixer eliminates 60 Hz electrical ground hum entirely.
Continuous Marathons: Zero-gap festival momentum.
Nothing frustrates dancers more than music abruptly stopping between songs. PlayGarba's web player features an automated continuous set engine that links curated tracks without jarring volume drops or silence. The tempo flows naturally, allowing dancers to stay in their rotational rhythm for hours.
Gain Staging & EQ: Setting clear vocals without piercing highs.
Keep device system volume at 85% to prevent internal digital clipping. On the PA mixer, set input gain so the meter stays in the green. On the channel EQ, gently roll off sub-frequencies below 40 Hz (using the high-pass filter), keep mid-range flat to preserve vocal clarity, and pull down high frequencies around 6 kHz to 8 kHz slightly so bronze manjira strikes do not hurt listeners' ears.
Offline & Failsafe: Bulletproof festival continuity.
PlayGarba is engineered as an installable Progressive Web App (PWA) with client-side caching. Even if neighborhood Wi-Fi drops momentarily, cached tracks continue streaming without stuttering. Keep the laptop connected to mains power and disable automatic screen sleep settings.
